Mock Class: Leading Inclusive, High Performing Teams with Professor Lindy Greer, Faculty Director of the Sanger Leadership Center and Professor of Management and Organizations

In this interactive session, students will work through a team decision-making exercise. You will then debrief the exercise in light of the cutting edge science and best practices for leading high-performing teams. Together, you will explore the value of inclusivity in teams, the need to create equitable participation in meetings, how to facilitate effective team task-debates, and how to manage team influence dynamics to make data-driven, high-quality team decisions.

  • Ross Building Tour 
    Join current Ross students for a tour of the Ross Building. 
  • Ann Arbor Walking Tour 
    Pack your hat, coat, and sturdy shoes as you venture out on a walking tour of Ann Arbor! Tour will be weather dependent. 
  • Coffee Chats with Current Students 
    Network and mingle with current MBA students about all things clubs, student life, academics, and career prep.

Michigan Ross vs. Michigan Law Ice Hockey Game (Optional)
Yost Ice Arena

Get ready for a truly iconic Michigan experience as the Ross team takes on the Law School in a high-stakes, high-energy ice hockey game! Join us for a thrilling night of competition, school spirit, and camaraderie as the MBA powerhouse team faces off against Michigan Law. No tickets required.

Current students will walk interested attendees over to Yost Ice Arena at 4:50 p.m. Please plan to wear sturdy walking shoes and a good coat in case of inclement weather conditions.

 

Shuttle Schedule

Some shuttle transportation will be provided during your time at Ross Winter Welcome. Stay tuned for a final shuttle schedule closer to the event date.

Please note: Shuttle transportation is not provided by Ross from DTW (Detroit Metropolitan Airport). However, Ubers and Lyfts are readily available, as is the Michigan Flyer.

Ross Winter Welcome is an opportunity for Round 1 admitted students to visit Ann Arbor, attend some informational programming, learn more about Michigan Ross, and connect with future classmates. We strongly encourage Round 1 admitted students to attend and experience the Ross difference firsthand.

We highly recommend students who choose to attend Michigan Ross also return for Go Blue Rendezvous in April. GBR will offer additional (and different) programming that will give you a deeper understanding of what to expect as an MBA student. Additionally, GBR is an opportunity to meet even more of your newly admitted classmates!
 

If you are flying, please book your tickets to Detroit International Airport (DTW). Detroit is a Delta Airlines hub but is also serviced by most other major airlines. The airport is a 30-minute drive from the University of Michigan campus. Options for travel to Ann Arbor from the airport include:

  • Taxis from the airport to Ann Arbor typically cost around $50-$60.
  • Uber/Lyft rides from the airport to Ann Arbor typically cost around $30-$40.
  • The Michigan Flyer/Air/Ride.
  • Other local transportation services in Ann Arbor

We also recommend booking at the hotels located near Victors Way or Boardwalk Drive. To name a few: Courtyard by Marriott, Sheraton Ann Arbor Hotel, Hampton Inn Ann Arbor South, Holiday Inn & Suites, and Fairfield Inn by Marriott.

Michigan Ross will provide some free shuttle service for the weekend. If you drive or rent a car, we encourage you to leave your car at your hotel, as parking at the University of Michigan is extremely limited. However, should you need to drive to campus, there are several public parking lots located throughout Ann Arbor that typically cost about $1.30 per hour. The most convenient parking structure for the Ross School of Business is the Forest Avenue Parking Structure located at 650 S Forest Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
 

Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend Ross Winter Welcome! We will have some partner programming available and opportunities to connect with members of the Partners Club at Ross throughout the event.

Although Michigan Ross is a very family-friendly business school, most of the activities planned during Winter Welcome are not well-suited for children.

The Thursday night social is an optional event guests are encouraged to attend in order to begin forming connections with new classmates, partners, current Michigan Ross students, and members of our Partners Club. The formal programming will take place on Friday, Jan. 24. We advise all attendees to plan their arrival around a full day of programming on Friday.

We will provide limited free shuttle service for event programming on Friday, as well as meals on Friday (breakfast, lunch, dinner). You are responsible for the cost of airfare, hotel/lodging accommodations, additional ground transportation, and any other meals.

You are welcome to visit Ross on your own and connect with a current student ambassador during your visit. We encourage you to check out the Admit Guide for additional events that will help you get to know Michigan Ross better, and check back for additional campus opportunities that may occur.

Dress for all events is casual, and maize and blue are always encouraged! Formal attire is not required for any event.

January in Ann Arbor is cold. We recommend coming prepared with a good winter coat, gloves, a hat, a scarf, and sturdy shoes.
