Amanda Uphold

Class of 2023

I started my finance career in the analyst leadership program at Washington Mutual and J.P. Morgan Chase in both corporate finance and accounting roles. Seven years ago, I took a career pause to be a stay-at-home parent to my three children. It was the right choice for my family, but I always had a strong desire to continue my career when it was time. Society does not always value the time we spend outside our careers, but it is not just the line items on our resumes that make us great leaders. I am passionate about changing workplace culture to be more supportive of women and working parents. I decided to pursue an MBA, not only to help with an employment gap, but also to eventually achieve roles of influence to effect change.

The Ross Online MBA program is a perfect fit with my responsibilities as a parent to young children and attaining an MBA. I have the flexibility to complete my coursework at various times that work with my family’s schedule. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and finding genuine moments of connection. The openness and collaborative spirit amongst my classmates and the greater Ross network make it truly feel like a community. I’m hoping to utilize that network and my finance background to land a role in Supply Chain Management.
