Prior to Ross, I spent five years in revenue management and long-range strategic planning at American Airlines. Traveling across the globe while working there exposed me to urban environments and cultures that contrasted sharply with the places I have lived, which inspired me to think more deeply about how we can improve cities here in the US. As I contemplated a career switch, I found myself excited by opportunities at the intersection of real estate development, urban planning, and economic development to help make cities more equitable, sustainable, and happier places for people. Michigan and Ross quickly shot the top of my list as I began looking for a top-tier university that would support a dual degree and that emphasized experiential learning opportunities in these areas. Add in my love of sports, my desire to return to the Midwest, and a whole bunch of smart, fun people ready to work together to have a positive impact on the world, and I was sold.
