Cody Comerford

Prior to Ross, I began my professional career as a Teach for America Corps Member in San Jose, California. After two exciting yet humbling years in the classroom, I transitioned into an administrative role, where I coached teachers and developed curriculum. In pursuit of my goal of living and teaching abroad, I made the jump to the international teaching community. For the past seven years, I have served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles in international schools in both Kuwait and South Korea. Although I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to build relationships and help students learn, I often found myself most energized when tackling some of the schools' more systemic challenges. While I know my passion for education will someday lead me back to this industry, I am excited to leverage my experience here at Ross as I transition into consulting. With no intention of becoming a lifelong consultant, I am looking to gain both a breadth of industry experience as well as develop a more robust quantitative skill set required in problem-solving and decision making. When evaluating different business schools, I knew the opportunity for a dual degree was essential given my long-term career goals. What set Ross apart for me was the multitude of opportunities for experiential learning. As a former educator, I know firsthand that humans learn by doing and I knew my school experience would be more valuable if it involved equal parts theory and application. Whether it is the term long MAP project, student-led investment funds, or real-time leadership, Ross provides an incredible array of meaningful experiences that continually require students to put their learning into practice. As a waitlisted candidate, I know all too well the feelings of uncertainty and anxiety associated with the waitlist, but I am happy to share my experience as well as the steps that I took to gain admittance.
