Hometown: Guaynabo, PR
Hey guys! It's great to know that you're considering the Ross School of Business! My name is Gabriel, I am a freshman student possibly concentrating in Finance or Strategy and minoring in French. I am from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, and saying this leads to many people asking me: "Why Michigan?". The first time I came to Michigan was in April of my senior year of high school for a tour after I had already been accepted. From the moment I stepped on campus I somehow felt at home. After my tour with a BBA Ambassador, I immediately decided I wanted U of M, and so far I can tell you it is the best decision I have ever taken! Here in Ross there are so many opportunities to take advantage of in order to start your exploration into different careers and interests in and out of business. What excites me the most of my years ahead is the possibility of integrating my interests outside of business and applying the concepts that I will eventually learn in my business classes with the goal of creating a positive impact in society.
On campus, I am involved in other organizations on campus such as IM sports, Michigan Triathlon Club, and the Michigan International Students Society. However, I am definitely planning on getting involved more in the Ross community, as I have heard many great things of the benefits you can get from the plethora of student organizations.
For me, it is an honor to be part of the Ross community and I strongly encourage you to explore! Don't hesitate to sign up for an info-session, a tour, or come by during drop-in hours to talk about anything that might help you in making the right decision.
As always, Go Blue!
