John Li

Class of 2015

I was a linguistics major who discovered accounting was my calling during my undergrad. When I decided that I wanted to pursue a MAcc, I knew I wanted a program that understood my needs as a non-business, non-economics major. I was surrounded by peers hailing from a broad range of disciplines and experiences, providing a collaborative learning environment as my cohort and I grew as a family during our short eight months together. Regardless of your major, the Ross MAcc will prepare you for an ever-changing profession with the building blocks you need to reason effectively and continue to enjoy learning throughout your career.

The faculty and staff helped me every step of the way from networking to receiving my job offer, allowing me to be confident and relaxed (and actually have lots of fun) as I navigated through the job searching process. My friends and I still remember our recruiting experience with great fondness (and the photo evidence of how wonderful it was can be found on the Michigan Ross MAcc Facebook page). Upon the conclusion of recruiting season, I accepted an offer to join the KPMG family in Detroit and have since been given opportunities to work in Grand Rapids, Columbus, Chicago, and (briefly) Mexico!
