Joi James
Prior to Ross, I worked in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector for five years at the intersection of community development and racial justice. Throughout my career, I worked with philanthropic institutions to better integrate diverse, equitable and inclusive strategies that reimagined what distributing wealth into Black, Indigenous and people of color communities (BIPOC) looked like. In these roles I designed and evolved grantmaking initiatives, contributing to the commitment and distribution of over $30M to BIPOC communities.
I chose to pursue my MBA at Ross largely due the school's commitment to building authentic and diverse leaders as well as its access to experiential learning opportunities and dedication to social impact. Post-Ross, I intend to pursue consulting to better understand what economic drivers impact our corporate, social and public sectors and lend my passion and expertise of how to integrate principles of equity. I also hope to utilize Ross' many resources to develop my own social venture while here.
Deciding to choose Ross was one of the best decisions I have made and I am excited that you are on this journey! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions (big or small). Go Blue!
