Matthew Kim

Class of 2019

Hello, my name is Matthew Kim. I am a current Master of Accounting student at Michigan and currently act as the student body's social chair. So a little about myself. I am originally from Riverside, CA (Southern California) and attended Walla Walla University, which is a small liberal arts college located in South Eastern Washington State. I'll be completely honest, I had no intention pursuing a career in accounting. In fact, I chose accounting since it was the first major listed on the bulletin of potential majors and I decided I would make my way down the list of majors. Long story short, I got a little too far in the accounting game to switch. However, I did find the concepts of accounting and business fascinating and decided it was a great career path. During undergrad, I interned at KPMG in Seattle doing Federal tax and state and local tax. Upon graduation from Michigan, I will frantically try to pass as much of the CPA exam as possible before starting full time back at KPMG in Seattle doing state and local tax. I strongly encourage individuals from smaller colleges or universities to consider Michigan. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the program, social life at Michigan, or how on earth I ended up in Michigan
