Nathan Alston
I am an arts producer currently trying to build my business and entrepreneurial acumen to make a bolder impact on the entertainment industry. Born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia, I graduated with honors from the College of William and Mary. Double majoring in Government and Theatre, my honors thesis “Silencing the Black Body; A Look at Non-Traditional Casting in a Liberal Arts Education” explored how the university’s use of non-traditional casting often inadvertently supported existing prejudices of people of color and queer people. After building a career in marketing and fundraising at Signature Theatre, I settled into a general management role at Washington Performing Arts. During this time my most meaningful endeavor was the creation of WPA's equity action plan which worked to create a more diverse classical music industry. Outside of work, you can catch me spending too much money on coffee, struggling at Orange Theory, or trying to recreate Bon Appetite dessert recipes.
