Rory McKendrick
Since graduating from Michigan State University in 2005, I have been working as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley in Birmingham, MI. In this role, I have had the opportunity to help over 200 families navigate the ever-changing investment landscape in a fast-paced and competitive work environment that I truly enjoy.
As in most industries, however, change is the only constant. Recently, financial service professionals have begun to feel the impact of the growing field of robo-advisors, a shift away from active money management and towards passive index funds, as well as significant regulatory reforms. Due to these changes, I felt the best way to sharpen my skills and prepare for the next 30-35 years of my career was to obtain an MBA from the Ross School of Business. The weekend program provides a great opportunity for me to obtain a world-class degree while continuing to advance my career and support my young and growing family. Finally, the admissions team here continues to do a fantastic job putting together a class with a diverse set of skills and backgrounds that I get to learn alongside for the next two years.
