Global Experience: Quality as Strategy in Italian Manufacturing --- This global experience will focus on a manufacturing model that has emerged in a number of industries, and exemplified in the Italian domains of food, fashion and furniture. We will examine companies that have followed four principles: (1) high quality products as recognized by consumers and competitors; (2) control of limited inputs in the supply chain; (3) manufacturing processes that are inconsistent with scale economies; and (4) a commitment to environmental and economic sustainability.
