Shaily Baranwal is the founder and CEO of Edblox (Elevate K-12), formerly Elevate. She was born and raised in Mumbai, India, and started her first venture with a grant from the Zell Lurie Institute during her first few months in the U.S. She bootstrapped the company to impact more than 40,000 students and created jobs for more than 3,000 teachers before raising her first growth investment round. Elevate K-12 has grown to become one of the largest Human2Human live online instruction services changing and disrupting how students learn and teachers teach regardless of zip code. Elevate K-12 is also one of the fastest-growing online instruction companies and enhances the education and teaching structure of both urban and rural K-12 schools throughout the U.S.
Baranwal is a mission-focused entrepreneur building products and services that deeply impact the lives of consumers and disrupt traditional markets, challenging the status quo. She was previously a consultant with AT Kearney and the creator of India’s first live grill restaurant, which she sold in 2015 to India’s largest F&B conglomerate, Dabur.
A believer of work-life integration, and not balance, she is a production engineer armed with a teaching degree and an MBA from the University of Michigan. In her free time, she likes to immerse herself in scuba diving, reading, and more reading.
