In a career spanning more than three decades, Subrata Poddar has held senior global HR leadership roles across industries (energy, manufacturing, IT, technology, and media companies), sectors (private, public, and cooperative sector), and geographies (India, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, U.S., U.K., France, and China). He has extensive experience in strategic and transformational HR across varied business sectors and geographies, in companies like Suzlon Energy Group, Cristal Global, Tata Technologies, IFFCO, Times of India Group, and Indian Airlines.
In his last corporate assignment as Group Head of HR in Suzlon Energy Limited, he led the HR deliverables for 8,000 employees across India, China, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Australia, and the U.S. Previously, he also headed the Global Talent Management function and strategic HR for its Global Technology Group (with R&D centres in Germany, Netherlands, and Denmark) at Suzlon from 2008-2013. At Cristal Global in the Middle East, he led the HR for four greenfield projects worth $2.5 billion USD and partnered with diverse JV partners across Japan, Europe, and America. He also headed the Corporate HR function in Tata Technologies, where he managed the acquisition and merger of INCAT entities in the U.S., U.K., and France with Tata Technologies.
Subrata has a GPHR certification, and completed his master’s degree in human resource management from XISS, Ranchi in 1985. He also underwent advanced leadership development courses at CCL Greensboro and ISB Hyderabad. He enjoys reading literature and traveling to new places, including trekking in the Himalayas.
He is currently in the role of managing director- executive education initiatives of Michigan Ross in India and leverages his extensive leadership experience in designing, developing, and delivering customized L&D interventions for corporations in India, the Middle East, and Asia.
