Ask Us Anything: Live Q+A Will Feature Admissions Directors From Michigan Ross, Haas, and Yale

Happy Spring from Ann Arbor!

It’s been an incredible month of activity here at Ross. We welcomed more than 350 future Rossers and their partners for our admitted students weekend. They were joined by 25 Ross alumni working in different fields — from startups and nonprofits to McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, and Lyft. The Forbes CMO Forum also brought more than 20 marketing executives and Ross alumni from leading international brands.

Meanwhile, MBA1s have been scattered across the globe for their MAP projects. This week, the teams are preparing to deliver their final recommendations to executives at their sponsoring organizations. I’ve had the pleasure of working with MAP teams on projects with Alphabet, Gooru, Facebook, and Ookla to develop their presentations and final reports. In other exciting news, Ross students won $50K in a pitch competition at the Detroit FinTech Challenge to seed their startup to decrease student loan defaults.

Waitlisted Candidates

This year’s applicant pool was incredibly competitive and the team has had to make lots of tough decisions. We’ll admit from the waitlist in mid-May after we know our enrollment numbers coming out of Round 2. We’ll make offers through the summer as space becomes available. Historically, we’ve admitted international candidates through the end of June and U.S. candidates through August. If you get an admit call, you’ll have 48 hours to accept and deposit.

For Prospective Students: Ask Us Anything

We’ll be hosting a livestream event with Poets&Quants next Tuesday, May 1. I’ll be joined by John Byrne, Editor-in-Chief of Poets&Quants, and the admissions directors from Berkeley Haas and Yale SOM.

We will answer questions like: how we assess and weight each part of the application, and what to do if you have a less-than-stellar GPA. We’ll be preceded by a panel of recent MBA grads from each of our schools talking about how they researched MBA programs, developed selection criteria, and assessed fit.

The session will close with a panel featuring executives from Google, McKinsey, and Amazon talking about what they look for in MBA hires and what MBAs typically do in their first year on the job. The event will be broadcast live on YouTube. We’ll be taking questions from participants — in-person and online. I hope you can join!
