What To Expect During The Michigan Ross Interview Day — and Some Recent Changes To Our Team Exercise

When we first introduced the Team Exercise as part of our MBA application and interview process it quickly became a great way for us to get to know more about candidates in a way we didn’t have insight into before: how they interact in team situations.

Teamwork is a crucial part of the MBA experience at Ross, so it was interesting to see how the exercise illuminated that part of a candidate’s personality — and it’s helped us welcome some of the strongest MBA classes we’ve ever had.

Though it’s optional, we highly encourage applicants to opt in as it allows them to share more information about themselves with us. But, what exactly is it?

If you’ve read about our Team Exercise or talked to candidates who’ve participated, you have a good sense of what the experience will be like — you’ll be placed on a team with other applicants to develop and solve a challenge based on randomly selected words. However, we’ve made some changes to the exercise this year that I wanted to share.

Team Exercises will be held on-campus in all three rounds on scheduled interview days, and in the following locations internationally:

  • India: Round 1 (Nov. 18th, 2018)
  • China: Round 2 (Early Feb. 2019)
  • Japan: Round 2 (Early Feb. 2019)
  • Brazil: Round 2 (Early Feb. 2019)
