In the first event to be held for Michigan Ross’ new Och Initiative for Women in Finance, Carla Harris, Vice Chairman of Global Wealth Management for Morgan Stanley, will deliver a keynote address on Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Colloquium at the Ross School of Business.

Featured in magazines from Fortune to Ebony as one of America’s most influential women in business, Harris was appointed to lead the National Women’s Business Council by President Obama in 2013.

Harris’ talk will pull themes from her most recent book, Expect to Win, which outlines strategies for long-term success while climbing the corporate ladder.

At Morgan Stanley, Harris is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships and has helped the company lead several IPOs, including that of UPS and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.

The event is just the first of many keynotes, programs, special events, recruiting opportunities, hands-on learning projects, and more that the new Och Initiative for Women in Finance will lead here at Ross.

“We are very proud to inspire and empower students through this new initiative at Michigan Ross,” said Lynn Wooten, associate dean for undergraduate programs. “The type of programming and events we are planning will make a positive impact on students’ educational and career paths, as well as the finance industry.”

The Och Initiative for Women in Finance was announced back in August as part of a significant gift from Ross alumna Jane C. Och and her husband Daniel S. Och.  Read more about the gift in our official press release.
