Veterans Share Their Stories During VETx

Share

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to be in the military, your fellow Michigan Ross colleagues are ready to tell you.

The Armed Forces Association at Ross has teamed up with the Sanger Leadership Center to organize the Second Annual VETx, or “Veteran Experience,” event on Friday, Nov. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m in the Colloquium on the 6th floor of the Ross building.

Veterans will deliver TED-talk-style speeches, highlighting stories from their time in the service and connecting those stories to leadership in business.

  • Jeff Pawlik, MBA ’17, will talk about resiliency and his time in the U.S. Army;
  • Bobby Carsey, MBA ’18, will discuss ambiguity and what he’s learned in the U.S. Coast Guard; and
  • Taylor Markward, MBA/MS ’19, will talk about healing an organization and his experience in the Army.

After the talks, Professor Ryan Ball will lead a panel of Ross MBA students who are also veterans in discussion. Panelists include U.S. Army veterans James Mckinney, Colin Tyrrell, and Molly Hope; U.S. Air Force veteran Chris Monti; and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Ryan Colameo. Food will be provided during the speeches and a happy hour will be hosted afterward at the Blue Leprechaun.

The VETx event tops off a week of events organized by the Michigan Ross Armed Forces Association, including veterans available at an information table available Monday through Thursday in the Winter Garden and a two-mile Warrior Run on Friday morning.

Michigan Ross is proud to support America’s veterans and active military service members. As a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program, Ross will cover most of the unmet tuition needs of veterans and service members who are eligible for Chapter 33. We do not limit the number of participants, and we cover all admitted students who are eligible.
