Michigan Ross Alum Named CEO of Discovery Inc.’s Global Digital Business
Discovery Inc. has named Michigan Ross Alum Peter Faricy, MBA ‘95, as the first ever CEO, Global Direct-to-Consumer, overseeing the company’s digital and in-home streaming entertainment services, and leading the company into its next technology-fueled evolution.
Discovery is the parent company of more than 80 basic and premium cable networks, including Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, the Oprah Winfrey Network, and Animal Planet. They have made a heavy push into the digital space in recent years with the development of Discovery’s GO TV Everywhere products, as well as Motor Trend, Eurosport Player, Discovery Kids, and Dplay.
Faricy “brings to Discovery more than twenty years of leadership experience at the intersection of technology and media,” the company said.
Prior to Discovery, Faricy served as the Vice President of Amazon’s Global Marketplace, the tech giant’s third-party seller business that has seen tremendous growth in recent years. He also led Amazon’s music and movies categories for several years.
Faricy said he’s excited to bring that expertise to Discovery and continue to grow their digital and streaming services.
"As the media and tech industries increasingly converge, Discovery has positioned itself as a clear leader,” Faricy said. “Our mission is to delight customers by leveraging technology to provide access to the content they love, anywhere and anytime. I’m incredibly excited to join Discovery at this important juncture and to help accelerate the company’s ongoing evolution as a technology-powered media company reaching viewers around the world."
Faricy has held previous leadership roles at Borders Group, Ford, and McKinsey as well.
Congratulations Peter, and best of luck in this next chapter!
