Thanks to the Ross community, I’ve been an Ann Arbor resident for over six of the happiest months of my life.

A year after beginning one of the most exciting and strenuous experiences of my life in the Michigan Ross Online MBA Program, I was afforded the opportunity to reflect upon it during Episode 305 of the Working for the Weekend podcast .

I wanted to share what I’ve learned about the Master of Management degree now that I’ve started in the Michigan Ross MM Program.

More important than the framework, Allyship 101 provided the opportunity to step out of my own experience and connect more deeply with my fellow Ross peers.

As a senior at Michigan Ross, I wanted to reflect on my busiest semester of college: the Ross Integrative Semester (RIS). Not only was RIS my favorite semester, but also my last normal semester too!

The semester of LBLE could best be described as unique, but it was one that will have value to me as I launch my own career in the entrepreneurship world.

I realized that with the pause in the theater industry and the support of Michigan Ross, it was time to expand my dreams and career goals through the Master of Management Program.

As the world adapts to post-COVID life, the ability to work well remotely will be required by nearly every employer now and into the future. I plan to use my expertise in remote work, which I’m acquiring through the Michigan Ross Online MBA Program, to secure my next position.

I was among the students and faculty who were tasked with rethinking the Michigan Ross commencement in a virtual format in less than four weeks to celebrate graduates. It wasn’t easy, but together we produced a virtual event that greatly exceeded our expectations.

Living Business is a residential Theme Community dedicated to the curiosity and love of business. What that means is that we like to incorporate some of the Michigan Ross learning experience into the space we live in.

While people across the country are adjusting to life 6 feet apart from one another, the Michigan Ross Master of Accounting Class of 2020 is doing the same. While we may be physically distanced from each other right now, we are still staying connected socially.

The Leadership Crisis Challenge provided our team with an opportunity to step outside of our comfort zones, and challenge ourselves by facing what felt like a very real corporate crisis.

As I approach the end of the Executive MBA program, it’s humbling to reflect on my journey so far, which has included an amazing cohort of fellow students, exceptional EMBA courses, and identifying my purpose as a leader.

Shifting from in-person classes to learning from home can be daunting, but it can also be just as productive and engaging as an in-person class. As a member of the first-ever Michigan Ross Online MBA program, I can attest that online learning can be an incredible experience.

Despite an eight-hour commitment per week, the +Impact Studio course has been one the most transforming experiences for me while at Michigan Ross.

I can’t tell you the exact moment I first recognized that the Leadership Residency for the Michigan Ross Online MBA program had been a transformative experience. But these were the three takeaways that stood out most in my mind.

I remember what drove me to pursue my Executive MBA from Michigan Ross like it was yesterday. I wanted to learn and grow at a university that was not only home to the leaders and best in technical education, but takes learning to the next level of positive leadership development.

As part of the first class of Michigan Ross Online MBA students, one of my biggest concerns was that I wouldn’t be able to participate on campus and engage with other students in a meaningful way. However, pretty soon I learned that the Ross community warmly extends its welcome beyond campus boundaries.

Attending Michigan these past two years, I’ve been the most accepted I’ve ever been in my life. But when going abroad and immersing yourself in another culture, I discovered you need to keep an open mind and remember you’re not alone.

Finance, technology, and social impact are words that are not often seen together. However, the fusion of these topics is precisely what we were tasked with thinking about as part of the 2019 FinTech Challenge, which took place at the Ross School of Business earlier this year.

As a woman and a Latina, I knew that making the choice to go back to school to pursue an MBA would be an adjustment. At most top business schools, though the number of women has increased, gender parity is still an aspiration somewhere in the far-off distance. However, coming to Ross has helped me meet my goals and step into my own as a leader.

As I reflect upon my experience with the Michigan Ross Weekend MBA program on a flight to a class weekend for the program, I can pretty much sum up my experience thus far in two words — flexibility and access.
