Biography

Since its founding in 2010, Dr. Lauren Bigelow has been the CEO of the Growth Capital Network (GCN), which provides strategy, analytic, and impact evaluation services to the foundation and non-profit community.  Prior to GCN and before its ‘09 acquisition by Bloomberg, she was the North American Commercial Director for New Energy Finance (now BNEF), the leading independent provider of information and research to investors and banks in the clean energy markets.  From early 2004 – 2008, Lauren was the Managing Director of the Cleantech Group, where she oversaw the firm’s technology, investment, and entrepreneur pipelines as well as managed 17 global finance conferences. The Cleantech Group facilitated the investment thesis and community around clean energy and technology investment, convening a global community of energy investors and opening offices in San Francisco, London, Delhi, and Beijing.

Lauren is the board chair of the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council and the Institute for Energy Innovation.  She is on the Advisory Board of the Erb Institute and an advisor to the Zell Fund at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan.  Lauren is an active angel investor and an LP in the Belle Michigan Impact Fund and GSAV.

Lauren teaches graduate level energy finance and advises MAP projects at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan.  She has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
