Ross Commencement 2020

The University of Michigan will not hold commencement ceremonies on their previously scheduled May 1 and May 2 dates, because of health and safety concerns related to COVID-19. We are working to find another date to hold commencement and celebrate the Class of 2020, and the graduates will be part of these discussions. We will share that information as soon as we can.

We know that this decision is very upsetting for many of our graduates and their families. Our students work incredibly hard to reach this milestone, and those who earn a Michigan degree deserve to be celebrated with their friends, professors, families and loved ones. Commencement is one of our favorite times of the year, as well.

At the same time, we want commencement to be safe – for our graduates, the hundreds of employees who prepare for and work during the ceremonies, and the tens of thousands who join us to celebrate. The health and well-being of our community is our highest priority. Large gatherings are not safe right now, and we don’t know when they will be. The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly, and before asking so many individuals to travel and gather in celebration, we want it to be safe.
