Career Background

Deborah (Sobczak) Jones is a Partner in Ernst & Young’s Professional Practice responsible for advising clients and engagement teams on the accounting for financial instruments. She has more than 15 years of experience serving the financial services industry. Her clients have included broker-dealers, derivative trading companies, commodities traders, foreign exchange dealers, global investment banks, commercial banks, hedge funds, and private equity funds. She serves private and SEC registrant clients, including support through an initial public offering.

Deborah completed a two year residency in EY’s Financial Services Professional Practice, in which she was a subject matter advisor on various complex accounting matters affecting the financial services industry, including fair value measurements, accounting for lending activities, investments in securities, and accounting for business combinations.

Deborah has a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Accounting from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. She is also a certified public accountant and a member of the AICPA. Since graduating from Ross, she has remained active in EY’s recruiting activities. Deborah and her husband Scott, who is also a Michigan graduate (1998) live in Brooklyn, New York, with their two boys (Jimmy and David). Jimmy and David are currently being taught to sing “The Victors.”
