The University of Michigan offers many more opportunities for you to travel and learn abroad. See the links below to learn about study abroad, internship, volunteer, and other global experiences offered by U-M.

Search Global Opportunities on M-Compass

M-Compass is the University of Michigan’s campus-wide system for education abroad opportunities. Through M-Compass, you can search for opportunities (by location, program type, etc.) and apply to study abroad programs across campus that suit your unique interests.

U-M Study Abroad Offices and Programs

U-M’s many schools, colleges, centers, and institutes provide a wide range of global courses, fellowship programs, volunteer experiences, international internships, and other opportunities for you to advance your global education. Explore the departments featured below and see the Global Michigan website for a complete list of offices that offer or support global opportunities across campus:

U-M International Center’s Education Abroad Office
The Education Abroad Office acts a central information hub for study opportunities through U-M, in addition to “outside” programs through other universities and organizations. Undergraduate and graduate student peer advisors can share their firsthand perspective on studying in many different countries.

Center for Global and Intercultural Studies (CGIS)
CGIS provides global learning opportunities to U-M students of all majors.

LSA International Internship Program
The LSA International Internship Program offers international internships in a variety of different fields to U-M students in all schools and colleges.

International Institute
The Area Studies Centers offer coursework for undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as lectures, workshops, performances, films, and on-campus events. Each Area Studies Center offers e-mail announcements of their events, and information on funding and job opportunities specific to that Center's region. The International Institute offers scholarships for U-M undergraduate and graduate students.

Ross Global Experience Award

Ross BBA, Pre-Admit, and Minor in Business students who participate in an international program (beyond Global Initiatives program offerings*) this year can apply for a Global Experience Award to offset the costs of their travels abroad. So, whether you plan to go abroad with the Center for Global Intercultural Studies (CGIS), the LSA International Internship Program, or another global program*, you could receive funding for your global experience.

*Please note: Students planning to apply/participate in Global Initiatives programs should not apply for this funding opportunity; these students can apply for funding directly within their global program application on M-Compass.
