Career Background

Jim Lico is currently a senior advisor for industrial technology leader Fortive Corporation. Jim is the former President and Chief Executive Officer who retired in July 2025. As member of the founding team that lead the separation from Danaher Corporation into a public company in 2016, Jim had grown Fortive into a $25B market cap company with a strategic focus on making the world safer, stronger, and more sustainable by delivering essential technology that accelerates progress to a broad range of global end markets.

Under his leadership, Jim focused on driving superior financial results while also significant portfolio shaping strategy to accelerate growth and innovation in Fortive’s core markets including the recent separation of Raliant Corporation. Deeply committed to creating a company that endures beyond strong business performance, during his tenure Fortive was recognized as one of America’s Climate Leaders 2024 by USA Today and one of America’s Most Responsible Companies by Newsweek for five consecutive years.

Prior to Fortive, Jim was an Executive Vice President at Danaher, where in addition to his operating responsibility he led the Danaher Business System office and played a key role in market expansion into Asia and the Middle East. Jim joined Danaher in 1996 as Vice President Operations of Veeder-Root in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and was tapped for roles of increasing responsibility before being appointed a corporate officer in 2002 and EVP and a member of the Office of the Chief Executive in 2005. Prior to his time at Danaher, Lico worked at both AlliedSignal and General Motors.

Jim is currently a member of the board of directors of DuPont de Nemours, Inc as well as the venture backed manufacturing software company TeamSense. He also serves on the board of the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. Jim is also a member of the Business Council, the University of Michigan-Dearborn National Advisory Council, and chairs the University of Michigan’s Seattle Campaign Council.

Jim holds a BS from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and a Master of Management from Northwestern University in 1997. Jim and his wife Maureen are deeply devoted to several charities in the Pacific Northwest including Seattle Prep School, Cristo Rey Seattle and longtime involvement in Cocoon House, where they serve as advisors to the CEO of the Everett-based provider of housing and family services to youth and families across Snohomish County.
