Career Background

First Generation college student
President at Energy Marketing Partners and Owner, Energy Marketing Partners

Mary Oliver has nearly 30 years of experience as a senior executive spanning an array of industries from Wall Street to heavy chemical & manufacturing, to packaged goods, to credit card management, to an Austin based tech start up, & ultimately founding her own company, Energy Marketing Partners.

Mary launched her own small business, Energy Marketing Partners, resulting from the changing demand for energy power & deregulation in the Texas energy market. Her knowledge of mass marketing & financial acumen of the securitization market helped identify a large market opportunity. During her tenure for the tech start up, Agillion, she was responsible for the product development & launch of a new web-based technology platform for 25 million small businesses to do online sales & customer service. One of her most memorable experiences working for Agillion was creating a Super Bowl Ad in less than 60 days.

As a marketing executive with American Express, she managed the largest commercial credit card business in the industry. She was responsible for acquisition, customer retention, customer information management, new product development, sales channel development & customer service operations. She achieved the fastest growing portfolio for three consecutive years with record income growth of 50% per year.

Previously, she spent 6 years at The Chase Manhattan Corporation as the Small Business Executive where she launched credit-scoring for low end credit products and expanded it to a mass market business. At Kraft Foods, she held traditional product brand management roles as well as working in Business Development on the acquisition of high growth businesses, such as Celestial Seasoning Tea, Lender’s Bagels & many other targets. Her initial career opportunity with FMC Corporation exposed her to a large diverse portfolio of chemical & manufacturing businesses requiring a keen development & understanding of the key profit drivers. She was responsible for the Risk Management & Pension Portfolio Management of over 90 different businesses.

Mary has degrees from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business (MBA) & The University of Michigan Ross School of Business (BBA) where she was the first female Evans Scholar.

Mary sits on the boards of 2 not-for-profit organizations: The Catholic Foundation & Western Golf Association (WGA) / Evans Foundation.
