Emily McCann
Are you making a big pivot in your career and transitioning from a completely different background? Well, I did!
Hi, my name is Emily McCann. For the past four years, I’ve been a high school Social Studies teacher, and now I’m a Full-Time MBA student at the Ross School of Business!
I’m originally from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and I also went to U of M for undergrad, so now I’m proudly starting my Double Wolverine journey. I love this place so much that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to come back, especially to the prestigious Ross MBA program.
Coming from a completely different background made the application process challenging at times. I had to figure out how to translate my non-business skills into the business world, which meant getting a little creative, but it worked!
I chose Ross not just because of my love for Ann Arbor and Michigan, but also because I learned that 97% of FTMBA students are career switchers. That stat turned out to be true, I’m surrounded by people facing similar challenges, and it has created such a supportive, inspiring community to grow in.
If you want to chat about life at Ross, living in Ann Arbor, why I chose Ross, or get advice on admissions as a career switcher, feel free to connect; I’d love to help!
