Gabriel Menendez

Class of 2027

I was born in Callao and grew up in southern Peru, where I developed a strong sense of community and a deep appreciation for Andean traditions. I later studied Economics at Universidad del Pacífico to learn more about how economic policies affect society and how they can contribute to social impact.

Before joining Ross, I worked at Banco de Crédito del Perú, developing loan and deposit projection models, creating pricing strategies, and later supporting global risk management for subsidiaries of Grupo Credicorp. I then joined the financial regulator as a Market Risk Supervisor and Bank Examiner, where I helped design solvency and market standards for Peru in collaboration with international organizations such as the Financial Stability Board and U.S. authorities, monitored the financial health of financial institutions and their subsidiaries across the U.S. and Latin America, and conducted due diligence for distressed banks—essentially working to keep the financial system safe and resilient.

I chose Ross to broaden my global perspective and sharpen both hard and soft skills in a diverse, international environment. Ross has been the perfect fit because of its action-based learning, collaborative culture, and strong sense of community. You feel it everywhere—whether in the classroom, during group projects, at football games (Let’s Go Blue!), or through the incredible alumni network worldwide (Go Blue, Go Anywhere!).

My passions for finance, data analytics, and ESG led me to pursue the Fast Track in Finance while also exploring concentrations in Data Analytics and ESG. Outside the classroom, I’ve enjoyed discovering Ann Arbor and the U.S.—from hiking at the Arb to adventures such as MTreks (shoutout to the Hawaii trek crew!).

If you are curious about moving to the U.S. as an international student, navigating the application process, adjusting to life in Ann Arbor, bridging government experience with business, exploring finance opportunities, or simply finding the best activities in Ann Arbor -I will be happy to connect and share my experience. Feel free to reach out!
