Matt Pembroke

Hello, my name is Matt Pembroke and I am a member of the WMBA Class of 2025. I graduated from UMass Amherst in 2017, and began working as an IT Consultant with IBM in July 2017. Going back to school to earn an MBA was always something I had in the back of my mind, but it had to be the right fit. As I learned about the weekend program at Ross, it had everything I was looking for. A part-time schedule to allow me to continue working, a cohort structure to get to know my classmates and develop friendships, professors and career services available in the same manner as the full-time program, a chance to participate in MAP, and of course, football games at the Big House; I truly believe there is no opportunity that compares.

I chose Ross for the reasons outlined above, but also to have an opportunity to learn and grow. I was a little nervous when applying because I did not have a definitive answer to what I wanted to do on the other side of my 2 years here, but then I realized something. I would not have guessed I would be working my job at IBM when I was a freshman in undergrad, but the classroom experiences and chance to learn in a interesting curriculum led me to where I am today. I wanted a chance to repeat that process, to be exposed to new ideas, to learn about new concepts from professors and classmates, and the experience exceeded my expectations.
