Nick Zahneis

Class of 2027

I grew up in Cincinnati, OH (Go Bengals!) and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland, graduating in 2016. Following graduation, I worked for ExxonMobil in and around Houston, TX for just under five years in the Global Projects group, working a variety of roles in the engineering project management space.

I decided to pursue an MBA to pivot both industry and role, focusing on people-centric, dynamic, and meaningful work. Michigan Ross was an easy choice for me due to its strong focus in Action-Based Learning and collaborative culture. The overwhelmingly friendly atmosphere hit me my first time visiting campus and has remained present ever since. At Ross, I have participated in events such as case competitions, the Leadership Crisis Challenge, M-Trek, and am a member of the Zell Lurie Commercialization Fund (ZLCF).

Outside of school, I love trying new food, exploring nature, and attending general admissions concerts. I am happy to discuss with you the transition from engineering to business school, attending business school with a partner, or anything else you may have questions about!
