Nicolas Tapia Monreal

Class of 2027

Hi, I’m Nicolás Tapia, a Full-Time MBA candidate (Class of 2027) at Michigan Ross and a member of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations.

Before Ross, I served 13 years as an officer and helicopter pilot in the Chilean Army, leading teams in critical missions such as vaccine distribution during COVID-19, mountain search and rescue, wildfire firefighting, and disaster relief after the 2010 earthquake. These experiences shaped my leadership style, resilient, mission-driven, and focused on people.

Alongside my military career, I earned a BBA in Business and developed a strong interest in supply chain, strategy, and operations. At Ross, I’m excited to combine my analytical and leadership background with world-class business training to pursue a career in operations and consulting with global impact.

I am also proud to be the first Chilean military officer to join Ross, a milestone that I carry with a strong sense of responsibility. I see this as an opportunity to represent my country and inspire others from nontraditional backgrounds to pursue an MBA.

Outside the classroom, you can usually find me singing as part of Risky Business, Ross’s rock band, or engaging with classmates through clubs like LABSA, Armed Forces Association (AFA), and the Consulting Club.

As a Student Ambassador, I look forward to sharing my journey, from the military to business school, and supporting future candidates who are also looking to make bold transitions in their careers.
