Niral Shah, MD MBA
I'm Niral Shah and graduated medical school in 2004. I did my residency at Weill Cornell - Houston Methodist and fellowship at Harvard - Beth Israel Deaconess and a practicing trauma & critical care surgeon. In 2018, I realized that healthcare was going to be the next vertical that got catalyzed. I had always been interested in entrepreneurship and was a startup founder before. But I wanted to become more conversant in business topics to round out my ability to effect change in healthcare and make sure that I had a seat at that table.
I finally choose Ross over some competitors after seeing its strength in areas where I was relatively weak--namely, operations, finance, and strategic thinking. I cannot be happier with my choice and have espoused its values to other physicians to upskill in this area since healthcare is changing so fast. I think the Ross OMBA's crown jewel is the in person touch points whether it was the welcome weekend, residencies, or the ability to participate in the Global MBA exchange (all of which I did). I would be happy to talk to anyone especially in healthcare on how I was able to more with my MBA in the first 12 weeks than the first 12 years of being an attending.
