Sarah Zhiyu Wang
Hi, my name is Sarah Wang and I am originally from San Diego, California. I completed my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Entrepreneurship from the University of Michigan in April 2025. My interests lie in studying human behavior, especially in the context of how people work and interact in organizations. That passion led me to take on leadership roles in my sorority, where I managed interpersonal dynamics and responsibilities, and to intern in human resources at a nonprofit, where I realized how much I enjoyed working at the intersection of people and strategy. I also had the opportunity to pursue an entrepreneurship project that received recognition, which gave me the confidence to keep pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. Those experiences made me realize that I wanted to do more with my education and find a way to bridge my passion for people with tangible business impact.
That is what ultimately brought me to the Master of Management program at the Ross School of Business: a one-year, intensive program designed specifically for students without traditional business backgrounds. I chose Ross because I wanted to deepen my understanding of core business functions while staying true to what makes me different. In addition to being a business student, I bring a psychology lens that helps me think critically and intricately about people, motivation, and behavior, which is especially valuable in organizations where culture, leadership, and communication directly impact performance.
Through the MM program, I have been exposed to a wide range of courses (from marketing and economics to strategy and operations) and I have complemented that academic experience with leadership development through the Sanger Leadership Center's Ross Leaders Academy.
Looking ahead, I am excited to apply my combined background in psychology and business to roles that focus on employee engagement, organizational health, and people strategy. I care deeply about helping teams thrive, supporting mental well-being, and building workplaces where both people and performance succeed.
I love getting to know people and am always open to chatting. So please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
