Sumit Dey
Hi, I'm Sumit! I am a weekend MBA student. I work as a Product Manager at Harman International - a leading supplier of Automotive Electronics. My professional interests span across product conceptualization, development and launch for in-vehicle Connectivity and Infotainment Systems.
Doing an MBA had been a unrealized dream for me as I focused on technical acumen in my career. When I pivoted into Product Management, I felt like an impostor because it was not about technology, rather it was more about the market dynamics, business acumen and strategy. Although I had done Product Management courses, I needed an MBA in order to unravel the big picture and learn how successful products and businesses start and thrive.
Ross was an easy choice, in fact it was the only school that I applied to. Its unique positioning as an action-based experiential learning through MAP (Multi-Disciplinary Action Project) and other innovative courses in the curriculum such as C-Level Thinking, as well as the strong focus on leadership development and a world-class faculty makes it one of the top choices among business schools.
Outside work, I spend quality time with my family. I love building Lego cities with my son and talking about career choices with my teenage daughter. I am an active member of a Toastmaster's club. Besides, in my spare time, I build DIY electronics sets and play chess or table tennis.
