Zhiyun Qiang

I was born and raised in Shanghai and came to the U.S. for grad school. Before Ross, I spent eight years working as a mechanical design engineer in industrial machinery and the semiconductor industry. I’ve lived in upstate New York and Southern California, and now I’m excited to be experiencing the Midwest.

What really drew me to Ross was the people. I connected with several student ambassadors during my application process, and their support made a huge difference. Since arriving, I’ve joined a bunch of clubs and often attend events from clubs I’m not even a member of. The community here is truly friendly and warm.

Career-wise, I’m pivoting into strategy consulting to get exposure to a wide range of industries, with the goal of moving into a strategic role in semiconductors and advanced manufacturing down the road. The Career Development Office and professional clubs have been super supportive every step of the way.

Outside of school, I love working out, playing volleyball, and taking photos. Feel free to reach out with any questions about Ross, recruiting, or just life in general!
