Real Estate Investments --- Real estate is a multi-faceted field that touches on each of our daily lives, from the homes we live in, to the office, retail or services buildings we frequent. As an investment class, real estate represents more than half the capital assets in the world. This class provides an introduction to direct commercial real estate investment, including asset valuation, debt structuring, taxation, construction financing, and real estate investment cycles. We will delve into these topics through news articles and case studies. We will highlight special topics including the involvement of institutional investors in the housing, and how changes in these markets may impact cities more broadly. The objectives of the course are to provide you with the skills for analyzing and structuring real estate deals and to develop your intuition for identifying opportunities in real estate.
