Real Estate Finance and Investments --- Real estate is a multi-faceted field that touches on each of our daily lives, from the homes we live in, to the office, retail or services buildings we frequent. As an investment class, real estate represents more than half the capital assets in the world. This class provides an introduction to commercial real estate investment, including asset valuation, debt structuring, taxation, construction financing, the securitization of real estate assets and liabilities, REITs, and real estate private equity. The objectives of the course are to provide you with the skills for analyzing and structuring real estate deals and to develop your intuition for identifying opportunities in real estate investments.

Prior to Winter 2015, this course was offered as FIN 366. No prior real estate knowledge or coursework is required in order to enroll.
