Through scholarships, distinguished donors foster strong engagement with Michigan Ross, helping to build a foundation for the success of future business leaders. Their philanthropy reflects a deep dedication to the school, its high-potential students, and the broader mission of driving positive change through business — leaving a lasting legacy of excellence.

Val and Bill Hall

Val and Bill Hall have been active University of Michigan alumni for 60 years. They grew up together in Adrian, Michigan, and attended the University of Michigan in the early 1960s. They were married in 1964, and Val taught at Ypsilanti public schools while Bill completed his doctoral degree at U-M. Their four children were born in Ann Arbor while Bill served on the U-M faculty during the 1970s.

Recently, they moved back to Michigan after spending 40 years in Chicago, where Bill worked as president/CEO of three companies and served as a board member at 13 public companies, while Val actively volunteered in youth organizations. They continue to volunteer their time at Michigan Ross, the College of Engineering, and Michigan Medicine, and have established three endowed scholarships to support students.
