Heather Moore
I am a higher education leader with more than 18 years of experience in student success, advising, teaching, grant administration, and program development. My work centers on building practical, equity-minded programs that improve student persistence, access, and confidence.
At the University of Michigan, I serve as Assistant Director of Financial Education & Engagement, where I am developing the university’s first comprehensive financial education program. This work includes academic courses, workshops, graduate student programming, individual financial discussion appointments, and partnerships across campus to integrate financial wellness into student support systems. I also teach financial education courses in LSA and the Ross School of Business.
Previously, I directed the federally funded McNair Scholars Program at Siena Heights University, supporting first-generation, income-eligible, and underrepresented students in graduate school preparation. My broader experience includes curriculum design, academic success programming, sociology and psychology instruction, proactive advising, and research on marginalized student populations and the effects of prison on our society, including students who have been incarcerated, children of incarcerated parents, and prison-related stigma.
My professional strengths include program development, student rapport, cross-campus collaboration, inclusive teaching, and the design of scalable initiatives that help students succeed.
