At Michigan Ross, we recognize that pursuing a career in the United States as an international student brings both excitement and complexity. From understanding visa sponsorship to adapting to cultural expectations, Ross is dedicated to helping every One-Year Master’s student feel confident, prepared, and career-ready.

Career Coaching and Self-Directed Support

The U.S. job search is self-directed, meaning students take ownership of their career strategy and actively seek out opportunities and resources to achieve their goals. At Ross, you’re supported every step of the way. The Career Development Office offers one-on-one coaching, workshops, and resources to help you build a personalized plan, connect with employers, and refine your goals.

To prepare you for U.S. hiring standards, individualized feedback sessions teach how to craft a concise, results-oriented resume that highlights measurable achievements. Workshops and mock interviews also prepare students for U.S. cultural expectations.

Visa and Sponsorship Resources

Ross provides powerful tools to help international students navigate sponsorship and visa processes, including Interstride, MyVisaJob.com, the MBA Exchange H-1B Sponsorship Report, and employer databases that highlight companies hiring international talent. For legal and immigration updates, Fragomen.com offers current insights and guidance.

In positive recent news, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services clarified that the new $100,000 H-1B application fee does not apply to individuals changing status from F-1 to H-1B. This means international students transitioning to H-1B after graduation will not be subject to this fee — a win for current and future Ross students. Read the clarification here.

Through hands-on coaching, targeted resources, and a supportive global network, Ross ensures that every student has the tools and confidence to succeed in the United States and around the world.
