No matter which program or deadline you choose, applying to business school can be manageable with the right plan. Start early, use the resources available to you, and give yourself time to tell a clear, compelling story about where you have been, where you are going, and why Michigan Ross is the right place to help you get there.

Everyone works at different speeds, but I would recommend starting your application at least two months before you plan on submitting. While you are able to start and submit an application in less than a day, you’ll want to give yourself enough time to prepare a thoughtful, complete application.

Now is the right time to review the application requirements, think about your career goals, update your resume, begin outlining your essays, and determine which Part-Time MBA format is the best fit for your schedule and learning style. Starting early also gives you time to connect with Michigan Ross admissions resources, attend an event, and speak with students or alumni who can help you better understand the program experience.

As you begin preparing your Michigan Ross Part-Time MBA application, two important early steps are gathering your transcripts and choosing your recommender. Gathering your undergraduate transcript, as well as any transfer credits or graduate school transcripts, ahead of time helps ensure you have the required academic records ready before you submit, while also giving you a buffer in case your institution needs extra time to process the request.

At the same time you start the formal application, you should choose a recommender. I suggest doing it early in the process to give your recommender ample time to complete their recommendation. Before you send the request, make sure to let them know that you are applying and they should expect a request for recommendation via email.  For tips on choosing the right recommender, check out this previous admissions blog

You are able to submit an application before your recommendation is complete, but all portions of an application – including recommendation and transcripts – must be completed for the admissions committee to review your application.

If you have any questions through the application process, please contact the Part-Time MBA admissions team at [email protected]. We look forward to getting to know you through your application!
