Test Alternatives: Test Waiver & Quantitative Readiness Course

Your Online MBA or Weekend MBA application is reviewed holistically, looking at your experience, skills, and the unique perspective you bring to the program.

We provide two test alternatives to demonstrate your readiness for the program, without taking the GMAT/GRE:

You have options for demonstrating your academic readiness — you can either submit a test score, complete our QRC, or request a test waiver. No matter which path you choose, you can be confident that your Ross application will be reviewed the same.
Apply for a Test Waiver

You may be eligible for a test waiver based on your academic or professional background. A waiver can be requested in the ‘Test information’ section of your application.

Test Waiver Criteria:

Earned an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, economics, or a STEM-related major with a GPA of 3.4 or higher

Hold a CPA, CFA, or equivalent

Hold a PhD, MD, or JD

A few things to consider when applying for a test waiver:

  • Test waivers are not provided for any other reasons
  • A granted waiver does not guarantee admission
  • Your application must be submitted before your waiver request is reviewed
  • The decisions of the admissions committee are final

Start Your Application

After your application is submitted, the waiver criteria will be confirmed and an admissions team member will contact you via email within approximately 10 business days with the waiver confirmation.

If you are not granted a waiver but would still like to be considered for admission, you can: submit a GRE or GMAT score, Executive Assessment, or successfully complete the QRC. Some recruiters (specifically those in competitive industries) seeking to hire Ross MBAs may use standardized test scores as part of their initial candidate screening process. Application fees are non-refundable.

The demands of balancing family and work commitments made it difficult to prepare for the GMAT. The Michigan Ross QRC test provided a viable alternative, allowing me to meet the testing requirement and was instrumental in equipping me with the necessary skills for the program.
