What To Do When You Visit Campus This Summer
Visiting college campuses over the summer is a great way to get a feel for the colleges and universities you will apply to in the fall.
The Michigan Ross BBA Program hosts information sessions for high school students during the summer, which you can register for on our website. On select Friday afternoons, you can attend these information sessions to learn more about the BBA Program, including the curriculum, co-curricular opportunities, career development resources, and, of course, our admissions process. We end the session by sending you on a self-guided walking tour of Michigan Ross.
To maximize your experience, I have a few tips to consider when visiting Michigan Ross and the University of Michigan:
Take a Central Campus Tour
The Michigan Ross information session will give you insight into the BBA Program and our admissions process, but it is important to go on U-M’s Central Campus tour offered by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. During the tour, you will learn about student life and see some cool campus spots such as the Diag (just don’t step on the block M!), the Michigan Union, where President John F. Kennedy announced the Peace Corps, and the Michigan Law Quad, which always has a few oversized squirrels roaming around.
Explore Ann Arbor
Did you know that Ann Arbor is consistently ranked as one of the best college towns in the nation? Not only does Ann Arbor have a world-class university, it also has a vibrant downtown lined with eclectic boutiques and restaurants, the State Theatre, an unmatched sports scene, and plentiful natural areas. My favorites include Nichols Arboretum, more affectionately known as the ‘Arb’, Pinball Pete’s on Liberty, TK WU for authentic Chinese, and Ondo Bakery for a sweet treat!. So when you are in town, make sure you give yourself enough time to explore Ann Arbor -- and even buy some Michigan gear!
After Your Visit
Make sure you watch the OUA recorded information session to learn about the application deadlines and how to apply to Michigan. There are different deadlines for applying (Early Decision, Early Action, or Regular Decision), preferred filing deadlines for FAFSA (I suggest meeting the filing date of Nov. 15), and scholarship deadlines, which are different depending on the school or college at U-M. (Note that Michigan Ross does not have a scholarship application; your admissions application doubles as your scholarship application.) You will also want to pay close attention to the university’s admission requirements, essay questions, and the Ross Admissions Portfolio.
