Emma (Tzu Chun) Chen

Class of 2026

I was born and raised in Taiwan and completed my undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada, with a concentration in Finance, Marketing, and Operations Management. After graduation, I returned to Taiwan to pursue a Master’s degree in Finance at National Taiwan University to strengthen my connections in the Asian financial industry. Upon completing my master’s, I joined HSBC Taiwan’s Consumer Banking Leadership Development Program, where I gained exposure to all aspects of banking, including product design, risk management, client relations, and project management. Following my time at HSBC, I moved to PwC Taiwan’s M&A Deals team as a consultant, advising both buy-side and sell-side clients during transactions. I also dedicated 50% of my time to the Deals Strategy team, where I helped clients conduct commercial due diligence, develop go-to-market strategies, and create business plans for potential investment targets.

I chose to pursue an MBA because I wanted to elevate my career to a global level and take advantage of the opportunity to collaborate with the brightest minds at a prestigious institution. Ross stood out to me because of its strong sense of community, which I immediately felt during my school research, interview process, and participation in the Ross 100 event in Taiwan. It’s true, as many say, that Rossers always support each other, and this has been evident throughout my experience. Additionally, Ross’s emphasis on hands-on learning—through initiatives like student-run funds, social impact projects, affinity groups, and professional clubs—ensures that students not only gain practical experience but also develop leadership skills by actively participating in these opportunities.
