The Ross Difference: Build an Experience That’s Uniquely Yours
We welcome over 300 students into each new MBA cohort each year, each bringing unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. That diversity is what makes the Michigan Ross community so special and further enriches the classroom experience.
And because no two students are the same, the Ross experience isn’t either. With the flexibility of our curriculum and the breadth of resources, including more than 10 leading centers and institutes, as well as additional offerings across the broader University of Michigan ecosystem, students can tailor their experience to their own passions and ambitions.
From that flexibility comes an incredible range of academic options. From six concentrations ranging from artificial intelligence to healthcare management and management science, to two certifications, 22 established dual-degree programs, and countless electives across Ross and the wider University of Michigan, you’ll have the tools to shape your path no matter where you want to go next. And if that’s not enough, you can even design your own dual-degree program with the support of our program office.
Below are a few personal stories that highlight how students have made the most of that flexibility and built their own unique journeys at Ross.
Jasmin Lopez, MBA ‘26
Jasmin is a second-year MBA student, focused on using business as a force for good. Originally from Plainfield, New Jersey, she is the daughter of a Guatemalan immigrant and brings a strong commitment to expanding access and opportunity.
Before Ross, she worked at Johnson & Johnson as a medical device sales representative. During her MBA, she has taken on several leadership roles, including co-president of the Hispanic Business Student Association, and gained global experience through a consulting project in Guatemala.
After exploring different paths, Jasmin will join Cisco’s FLEX rotational program within the people, policy, and purpose organization, where she will continue to pursue impact-driven work at the intersection of business and social good. Nicolas Tapia Monreal, MBA ‘27
Nicolás is a first-year MBA student and a member of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations. Originally from Chile, he brings over 13 years of experience as an Army officer and helicopter pilot, where he led high-stakes missions requiring precision, resilience, and trust.
After relocating to Ann Arbor when his wife began her Ross MBA, Nicolás found community and purpose through Ross as a partner before deciding to pursue his own MBA journey. At Ross, he is actively involved in the student band, Risky Business, and the Latin American Business Student Association, supporting prospective and incoming students navigating similar transitions.
Building on his background in operations and leadership, Nicolás is currently working on a MAP project with Amazon and will intern with Michigan Medicine this summer. He aims to translate his experience in complex, high-pressure environments into impactful work in operations and healthcare systems. Listen to his journey of transformation and rediscovering purpose and identity.
Max Wagner, MD/MBA ‘26
Max is an MD-MBA student whose path to Ross has been anything but traditional. Shaped by a global upbringing in Shanghai and his experience as a walk-on high jumper at Michigan, where he ultimately became team captain, Max brings a deep sense of resilience, curiosity, and drive to everything he does.
First and foremost, as a medical student pursuing plastic surgery, Max is passionate about restoring both form and identity through his work. At Ross, he has expanded that mission beyond the operating room, engaging in healthcare innovation, leading medical consulting initiatives, and traveling to Uganda for his MAP project to help develop a specialty care center in an underserved region.
Blending medicine, business, and a global perspective, Max is committed to advancing innovation in healthcare. He will continue that journey at the University of Chicago, where he will pursue his residency in plastic surgery while working to create meaningful, lasting impact for patients and communities.
