If you are considering reapplying to Michigan Ross, you may have questions about how the process works and how our admissions committee views reapplicants.

Applying as a reapplicant can position you as a strong candidate. In fact, reapplicants often demonstrate qualities we highly value in our community, including resilience, self-awareness, and a continued commitment to pursuing an MBA at Ross.

Each year, reapplicants make up a small but meaningful portion of our incoming class. Many go on to become engaged members of the Ross community, student leaders, and alumni who continue to make an impact.

Key Information for Reapplicants

Application Fee Waiver

If you applied to the Full-Time MBA Program within the last five years, your application fee will be waived. Simply select the "Reapplication" option under Application Fee Waiver Eligibility” in the Getting Started” section of the application.

A Streamlined Application Process

We have designed the reapplication process to help you focus on what has changed since your previous application while providing the admissions committee with the information needed to evaluate your candidacy.

If it has been one year or more since your last application, you will need to complete a new application in its entirety.

Required Components

1. Updated Resume

Highlight meaningful updates since your last application, including new roles, promotions, accomplishments, projects, or experiences. Focus on the impact you have made and how you have grown rather than simply adding new items.

2. New Application Essays

All reapplicants are required to complete this year's new essay questions. Use these essays as an opportunity to share who you are today, including your goals, experiences, and motivations for pursuing an MBA at Michigan Ross.

We encourage you to submit thoughtful, updated responses that reflect your current perspective rather than simply reusing essays from a previous application cycle.

3. Reapplication Essay

Your reapplication essay is an opportunity to reflect on your journey since your previous application. Share what has changed, how you have grown, and any additional information you would like the admissions committee to know as we consider your candidacy again.

There is no word limit, but most reapplicants find that approximately one page provides enough space to share meaningful updates.

4. Interview

Interviews are by invitation only.

Optional Components

Continue strengthening your application before you hit submit by reviewing optional updates on our reapplicant checklist.

Tips for a Strong Reapplication

Reflect on Your Growth

Take time to review your previous application and identify meaningful areas of growth. Consider how your professional experiences, personal development, goals, and skills have evolved since you last applied.

Feedback from mentors, advisors, or trusted colleagues can also help you identify the strongest updates to highlight in your application.

Focus on Meaningful Improvements

A strong reapplication does not require every part of your application to be completely different. If certain elements of your previous application still accurately represent you, there is no need to change them simply to make updates.

Apply When You Are Ready

As always, apply in the round where your application is strongest and when you feel most confident in your candidacy.

We recently hosted a webinar specifically for reapplicants and encourage you to watch it for additional guidance and insights from the admissions team.

Advice for applicants

If you are here, you’ve probably decided to reapply. My mentor told me this, and it was really helpful for expectation-setting: "This will be a hard process, and usually something that people tell you is crazy. Do it anyway. Take the time to look at the facts and set ego aside. It will be painful because growth isn't easy or comfortable.”

For me, that came in the form of realizing my test scores were not where they needed to be, so I went back and did it differently. I got a tutor and revamped my study plans. I leaned on my network and got support to polish my story. Getting the call was definitely a crazy feeling after really pushing through the first heartache.
