What You Need to Know: Part-Time MBA Career Services
In the Career Development Office, we aim to provide personalized career resources to meet the needs of our Weekend and Online MBAs who include working professionals planning on a career pivot and those intending to advance in their current company.
The CDO employer relations and coaching teams are your partner in career exploration and planning. The employer relations team works with companies to bring job opportunities to Ross students and manages many of the company events at Ross during the internship and full-time recruiting cycles. They also partner with student leaders in the professional clubs on special events and company treks. Coaching is at the heart of career development.
I have been at Ross for 10 years coaching PTMBAs, and have seen how much students juggle while in their programs. Work, school, personal obligations –not to mention the travel to campus for class weekends (WMBA) or residencies (OMBA). Because of this, we offer coaching in person or virtually, and outside of core hours.
Weekend and Online MBAs have access to CDO MBA staff coaches with functional expertise (consulting, tech, marketing, etc.), peer coaches, and a unique group of alumni coaches whom we call our adjuncts. Adjunct coaches are Ross alums who work specifically with Part-Time MBA students and offer a real-world perspective on using the MBA in areas like consulting and business development. Topics for coaching could include: creating a job search strategy, resume reviews, mock interviews, LinkedIn profile help, and offer negotiations.
While individual coaching is key, we also offer a variety of educational sessions throughout the year, hosted by the PTMBA coaching team and the other staff coaches.
Having people who know your goals, offer practical advice, and help you make the right connections can take a lot of stress out of preparing for your next steps. The Michigan Ross CDO is here to help you explore your options to determine what’s next for your career journey.
