In addition, the University of Michigan was also ranked as the No. 3 public university in the nation for the second consecutive year by U.S. News.

U-M moved into the No. 24 spot among the nation’s best universities, up one spot from last year.

The U.S. News rankings are based on an overall score that is calculated from weighted measures in nine broad categories: graduation and retention rates, undergraduate reputation, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance, bachelor’s graduate indebtedness, social mobility and alumni giving.

Additionally, U-M ranked No. 8 on the list for best colleges for veterans and No. 13 for most innovative schools.
