Michigan Ross Online MBA Students Kick-Off Their Inaugural MAP with Nine Projects For Companies Including Coinbase, Riot Games, Uber

Image

For the first time, teams of Online MBA students from the Ross School of Business are beginning work to address complex organizational challenges facing nine companies as part of the MAP (Multidisciplinary Action Projects) program

The sponsoring companies the Online MBA students are working with this year include sought-after post graduation destinations like Coinbase, Riot Games, Sony Entertainment, and Uber Technologies. The projects range from CPG marketing strategy to business development plans and new product research in the tech and gaming industries.

While the projects will be conducted virtually, the OMBA student teams will work directly with companies and present their detailed final analysis and recommendations to senior leadership. And, as is the case with all MAP projects, they will be guided by a Michigan Ross faculty advisor throughout.

The MAP program exemplifies the commitment of Michigan Ross to action-based learning, which is a differentiating feature of the school’s Online MBA program. In addition to kicking off their MAP projects, many Online MBA students are simultaneously participating in their Innovation Residency, held in partnership with the Zell Lurie Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Michigan Ross. This is one of four in-person residencies offered by the program.

Here is a list of the cool projects Online MBA students are tackling this summer:

Advanced Battery Concepts

OMBA students will formulate a detailed three-year business plan to utilize the current manufacturing line to produce products for the microgrid energy storage market for Advanced Battery Concepts, a Michigan-based lead battery technology development company.

Caterpillar

The Online MBA team will develop a three- to five-year strategic plan for electrified construction equipment aligned to customer adoption for Caterpillar, the world's largest construction equipment manufacturer.

Coinbase

Online students will analyze the current employer brand and provide strategies for how to improve at Coinbase, a global cryptocurrency exchange platform operator.

Anthem

The OMBA team will build an investment thesis for a future asset, capability, or solution for Anthem Inc., a U.S. health insurance provider.

Ford Motor Co.

Online students will develop scalable marketing recommendations and implementation plans to drive beta user acquisition and retention of a new software product for the Detroit-based automaker.

Kimberly-Clark

The Online MBA team will create a strategy that helps expand Kleenex into new markets for Kimberly-Clark, a multinational personal care corporation.

Riot Games

OMBA students will propose an enterprise risk management framework and supporting processes that align with a new operating model and long-term goals at Riot Games, the California-based video game developer, publisher, and esports tournament organizer.

Sony Entertainment

The OMBA team will create a business plan for expanding PlayStation's presence off-console for Sony Entertainment Inc., a major entertainment company.

Uber Technologies

The online students will research innovation projects in the delivery industry and complete a competitors’ analysis for Uber, a ride-hailing, food, and package delivery company.
