Derek Kerr
Derek Kerr is Vice Chair, Chief Financial Officer and President, American Eagle. He oversees all global corporate risk, corporate development and corporate financial functions, including treasury, accounting, financial planning, labor and fleet analysis, tax, strategic planning, investor relations, and purchasing. He is also responsible for more than half of American’s departures with oversight of American Eagle operations.
Previously, Derek served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of US Airways. He joined America West Airlines in 1996 and served in a variety of finance and planning roles. He was named Chief Financial Officer in 2002 and was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2009, adding responsibility for information technology.
Derek also worked in financial planning and analysis at Northwest Airlines. Before that, he was a flight test coordinator/control engineer with Northrop Corporation’s B-2 Division.
Derek serves on the advisory board of the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and the board of directors of the Dallas Regional Chamber and the Cotton Bowl. He is also a member of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics and the Knight Commission Task Force on Racial Equality.
Derek earned a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering and a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Michigan.
