Aakanksha Vyawahare

Class of 2026

I am an experienced healthcare professional, beginning my journey with a passion for dentistry and earning both a Bachelor's in Dental Science (2012) and a Master's in Pediatric Dentistry (2016) from India. During my two-year clinical career, I led a dynamic team as a Clinic Head, increasing pediatric patient volumes and providing oral health education to over 500 young patients.

After moving to Michigan from India, where I’ve lived for the past 7 years, I pursued a diploma in nutrition, spent three years in entrepreneurship and worked as an independent dental and nutrition consultant during that time. This period helped me realize my desire for a broader impact, leading me to pursue an MHSA degree. Through this program, I discovered my bigger dream: to lead transformative change in healthcare and become a role model for other Indian women aspiring to leadership. To gain the necessary business acumen, I then enrolled in the MBA program at Ross, making me a dual-degree MBA/MHSA student.

Ross was a clear-cut choice for me after taking courses during my first semester in the MHSA program. The strong network of current students and alumni, career support, healthcare focus, MAP project, and leadership programs made it the perfect fit for my goals. My vision is centered on working on healthcare solutions to improve processes, lower healthcare costs, enhance systems overall for better patient experiences, and advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), particularly for women of color in leadership.

I’m also passionate about Bollywood dance, singing, and cooking Indian dishes. Navigating the joys and challenges of parenting two kids adds a special adventure to my life.

As a mother, an international student, a dual degree student, and someone who has been part of the University of Michigan (both the School of Public Health and the Ross School of Business) while living in Michigan for over 7 years, I’m happy to answer any related questions.
